Salute to Edie Fontaine

Salute to our lovely Edie Fontaine, Technical Sales Specialist for IKONICS Imaging and IKONART. In honor of the United States Army’s official birthday today, we’re recognizing one of IKONICS’ finest!

“I am a proud to say I love the USA and always do my best to make sure that when I purchase things, they say “Made in the USA.” My dad (Vance) was in the Marine Corp -Semper Fi , Sister (Sharon), Husband (Bryce) and Son (Johnathan) in the US Army.  Both our children were born at Fort Riley, Kansas. The Military family is a strong bond and I still have wonderful friends that we still keep in touch from Camp Casey, Korea and Fort Riley, Kansas.  I worked in the Oral Surgery clinics at both Camp Casey - Korea and at Fort Riley – Kansas and I am SO PROUD of our men and women who serve and protect us for our Freedom.  It is the US Army’s birthday today and I am proud to say with tears in my eyes that I recognize our Military every day. As my husband was in Iraq and our son in Afghanistan -  I am so blessed that they are still with me today, ” said Edie.

Sourced from the Military Benefits website, “The official birthday of the United States Army is June 14th, 1775. It’s easy to assume that this date implies the creation of a fully realized standing army, but the truth is that when the first shots were fired in the American Revolution, the troops involved in fighting the British could be compared to a guerrilla force; colonists from a variety of militias in the area banded together to fight the “Redcoats”.

The U.S. Army operates with close to half a million active-duty soldiers, according to a 2016 Army demographics report; the service has come a long way since it was created approximately a year prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Click Here to read more!
