Combine Laser Engraving & Sandcarving

Laser engraving uses a laser beam to etch a design onto the surface of a wide variety of materials including wood, acrylic, glass, leather and much more. This process is fast and effective. However, when it comes to engraving glass, the only way to achieve clarity and depth is through sandcarving.

Blazer Orange Laser Mask for Laser Engraving

IKONICS Imaging has developed a laser mask called Blazer Orange that allows you to combine the convenience of your laser machine with the quality of sandcarving. Combining both these technologies will give you the highest return on investment. Whether you want cleaner edges, more depth for color-filling, or you are looking to incorporate advanced techniques such as stage carving, Blazer Orange can help you achieve the quality and look you desire.

Steps For Using Blazer Orange Laser Mask

Blazer Orange allows you to make a stencil using your laser engraver, then take that piece to your sandcarving machine to finish it. Here are the steps on how to use it:

  1. Choose/Create Artwork: Design your artwork using design software. Make sure your art is set to 100% black.
  2. Apply Blazer Orange: Apply the laser mask to your glass substrate.
  3. Laser Engrave Stencil: Place your glass piece in your laser engraver, set your film thickness, and send the art to the laser to create your stencil.
  4. Sandcarve: After the laser engraver creates the stencil for you, finish the piece in your CrystalBlast blast cabinet for clean, smooth lines. We generally recommend blasting at 30-40 PSI.
